John 12:37-43 — When Seeing Isn’t Believing

Welcome to this week’s worship service at The Vine! 🌿
In today’s message from John 12:37–43, we encounter one of the most sobering passages in the Gospel of John. Even after witnessing Jesus’ miracles and hearing His teaching, many still refused to believe.
At the heart of this passage is a challenging truth:
The greatest danger is not that we cannot see Jesus, but that we can see Him clearly and still refuse to surrender to Him.
In this message, we explore:
How repeatedly rejecting the light can lead to spiritual darkness
Why unbelief is often rooted in the heart rather than a lack of evidence
The mystery of God’s sovereignty and human responsibility working together
How Isaiah’s vision points to the glory of Christ
The danger of valuing human approval more than the approval of God
We also meet people who believed in Jesus but were unwilling to openly follow Him because they feared the consequences. Their story challenges us to consider our own hearts: Are there places where fear, pride, or the opinions of others are keeping us from fully surrendering to Christ?
John reminds us that Jesus is far greater than we often realize—and that every encounter with Him calls for a response.
May this message encourage you to walk in the light, trust the glory of Christ, and seek God's approval above all else.
