John 13:31-38 — Following Jesus Gets Personal

As we continue our journey through the Gospel of John, we come to the closing moments of the Last Supper in John 13:31–38. Judas has just left to betray Jesus. The cross is only hours away. Yet instead of focusing on His own suffering, Jesus prepares His disciples for what lies ahead with words of hope, love, and grace.
At the heart of this passage is a powerful truth:
Jesus calls us to glorify Him by trusting His plan, loving His people, and depending on His grace rather than our own strength.

How God's greatest glory is often revealed through what looks like defeat

When the cross looked like defeat, heaven saw victory. When Peter confidently declared he would never fall, Jesus already knew his weakness—and loved him anyway. This passage reminds us that our confidence is not found in our own resolve but in the grace of the Savior who knows us completely and never stops pursuing us.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to love one another with the same sacrificial love He has shown us. In a world marked by division and self-interest, Christ's love becomes one of the clearest testimonies that we belong to Him.
May this message encourage you to trust God's plan even when you can't see the outcome, love others with the love of Christ, and rest in the grace that is greater than your greatest failures.
