1 Thessalonians 2:8 — Relational Disciplemaking

This week, we took a different approach to the message with an interactive time of teaching and group discussion centered on relational disciplemaking—the idea that ministry isn't primarily about what we do, but who we're doing life with.
In 1 Thessalonians 2:8, Paul describes ministry this way: “We were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” Following Jesus' example, discipleship is more than sharing information. It happens through relationships, shared experiences, encouragement, and intentionally helping others grow in their faith.
Together, we explored three important aspects of relational discipleship:
Jesus was with people before He worked through people.
Jesus gave people responsibility and sent them out.
Jesus shared life with people, not just information.
Throughout the message, we broke into groups to discuss the people who have helped shape our own faith and consider practical ways each of us can begin investing in and discipling others.
Jesus' call to “go and make disciples” isn't reserved for pastors or ministry leaders. It's a calling for every follower of Christ—and often it begins simply by sharing our lives with the people God has already placed around us.
May this message challenge us to move beyond simply attending church and become people who intentionally walk alongside others as we follow Jesus together.
